Program Description

HealthPartners Department of Neurology offers a structured and comprehensive post-graduate program to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners interested in advanced training in Neurology. The program provides clinical and didactic experiences in a variety of supportive environments and specialties to foster critical thinking, interprofessional collaboration, competence and confidence, helping the APC fellow successfully transition into the role of Neurology APC at an accelerated rate.

Length of Program: 12 months

Class Size: 1 fellow per year

Program Curriculum

Clinical

The Neurology APC fellow spends a significant portion of their training in clinic learning chronic neurological disease management and on inpatient hospital consult services to learn management of acute neurological conditions. They also rotate with other neurological and medical subspecialties deemed essential for proficiency in neurology.

Didactic

Based on program core competencies and common patient care presentations, the APC fellow participates in 1:1 and/or group learning experiences biweekly and after subspecialty rotations. These experiences foster the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively assess, coordinate, and deliver evidence-based and cost-effective care to adult patients with acute and chronic neurological diseases.

Schedule

The Neurology APC fellows work Monday-Friday day shifts. APC fellows can expect to work approximately 40 hours per week with some variability depending on which rotation they are in. 

Required Certifications: BLS obtained prior to start date
