Fellowship Applications

Academic and License Requirements Physician Assistant:

  • Degree from an ARC-PA accredited PA Program prior to matriculation into the program
  • A Baccalaureate degree or higher
  • Eligible for National Certification by the NCCPA. New graduates may apply who are PANCE eligible
  • Minnesota and/or Wisconsin licensure or eligibility

Academic and License Requirements Nurse Practitioner:

  • Nurse Practitioner degree (DNP, or MSN)
  • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program at an accredited institution
  • Current certification by the AANP, or ANCC.
  • Current active Nurse Practitioner MN license and/or WI license.

Fellowship Requirements:

  • Application form
  • Three professional letters of recommendation
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Interview

Interview Considerations:

  • Fellowship program is open to both new graduates and more seasoned APCs who are changing careers or seeking advanced training.
  • Desired candidates will be flexible, interested in continued learning and aware of time commitment
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a desire to stay in MN and/or WI.

Specialty Specific Academic and License Requirements:

  • Emergency Medicine: General requirements
  • Hospital Medicine: General requirements plus Nurse Practitioner require Acute Care Certification
  • Psychiatry: General requirements plus Nurse Practitioner with certification in psychiatric or mental health

APC Fellowship timeframe and expectations:

APC Fellows will start in a cohort of other fellows:

  • January (Psychiatry and Hospital Medicine)
  • March (Emergency Medicine)
  • June (all)
  • Fellowships will last 12-18 months. The majority of Fellowships will last 12 months.


  • Fellows will work a minimum of 40 to 45 hours a week.
  • Fellows will prepare for and participate in academic requirements outside of these hours.

Specialty Specific timeframe and expectations:

  • Emergency Medicine: 18 months
  • Expectations: TBD
  • Hospital Medicine: 12 months
  • Expectations: TBD
  • Psychiatry: 12 months (40+ hours per week (Includes day and/or call experience)
  • Expectations: Psychiatry Call – as part of Fellowship
    • Evening House Officer
      • 3 hours weekday evenings < 60 shifts / 12 months
      • Overnight or Weekend Call
      • 12-16 hour shifts < 26 shifts/ 12 months

Salary and Benefits:

  • PGY1 salary + benefits + CME
  • Pay DEA and licensing
  • Specialty specific:
    • Boot camp course paid for by fellowship
    • Moonlighting available
